A film veteran from Northern Ontario with over thirty years of post-production experience, Norm is an honours graduate of the Humber College’s Cinematography Program. Working exclusively in Northern Ontario in Post-Production, Norm is also currently a Professor in Canadore College’s Post-Production Program. It is here where he shares his love and passion for post-production with the next generation of young filmmakers.
Norm had founded Francont Film and Video Conform(1982) in Toronto, where he worked with most Canadian production companies and independent directors. Feature films include those of Don Carmody Productions, the Canadian Film Centre, Warner Bros, and Columbia Pictures. He has worked with Atom Egoyan, Bruce Macdonald, Patricia Rozema, Don Carmody and the Canadian Film Centre, among others.
Norm Marion established Sawasquirrel, a post-production facility located in North Bay, to service and support a complete post-production workflow for all post-production needs. Sawasquirrel Post services includes on-set and near-set lab, editorial facility and support.
Services provided include Editing, Colour Correction, Dailies, DIT, DMT, Online Editing, Post-Production Supervision and equipment rentals. Norm’s film and video software competency includes Avid Media Composer, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X, and the complete suite of Adobe products. He is an expert user and certified Davinci Resolve Trainer as well as a Certified Avid Media Composer instructor.
